Summer Academy Group Training
Our Summer Academy program is for players keen to continue their development through the backend of Term 3 and Term 4.
Most players stop playing all together as soon as the season finishes, some enrol in summer football. Although this is better than nothing, most of these teams are social and do not train. As a result, players can actually go backwards as they develop bad habits such as striking the ball with their toe. You need both sides of the coin. Training is to the game what studying is to the exam. You shouldn’t go into an exam cold turkey, so why would you go into a game without training?
Our summer program is designed to
- Reinforce the skills gained over winter
- Add new skills and abilities
- Give players more success and enjoyment in small sided football
What players will learn?
- 3 different skill moves to beat opponents
- Effective 1v1 Attacking (more than just skill moves)
- Effective 1v1 defending
- How to Protect the ball
- First touch in tight spaces
Whilst these are the main focuses, it is a holistic program. This means that skills such as striking the ball and first touch in space are still covered.
Boots, shinpads, water bottle and HAIRBANDS for players with long hair. NO PHONES.
Ideally 12 players per coach
St Matthews Farm Reserve, Cromer high school
Age group, time, days
Monday 6:30-7:00pm (small group)
With sessions being run every day of every week there will be plenty of times when players can make up sessions if they are washed out.
Girls and Boys only session
If the demand is there to block out a time slot for a girls or boys only session then we will do this. An example of this would be if an existing girls U10-11 football team wanted the 4:30-5:30 time slot on a Tuesday.
Another example would be Wednesdays where most of the girls comps for summer football are run. With girls playing they are unlikely to be playing so these would become boys only sessions.
Playing up an age group
I am happy for players to play in the age bracket above as long as they are physically and technically able to
